jOVALdi exactly duplicates the command-line interface of ovaldi, so that it can serve as a drop-in replacement for users who are already familiar with or using ovaldi. It also adds a few command-line options that provide access to its advanced functionality: the plug-in architecture, and remote-scanning capability. It is based on the 5.10.1 version of the OVAL schema
Three plugins are provided with the jOVALdi distribution: one that implements scanning of the local host (the default plugin), another that implements scanning of remote hosts (the remote plugin), and a third (the cisco plugin) that implements offline scanning of network devices. Each plugin supports a subset of the OVAL test types, sufficient to run all of MITRE’s publicly-available content for Windows, Linux, Solaris, AIX, Mac OSX and Cisco IOS, as well as the OpenSCAP OVAL content for Fedora Linux.
